Common Suzuki Gearbox / Transmission Issues: Automatic and Manual

Difficult cold start — on Suzuki (e.g. SX4, Grand Vitara), the automatic or CVT may warm up slowly at low temperatures. The car “hesitates” when starting and sometimes produces light unusual noises.
“Whine” and play in the reducer — in Aisin automatics on Suzuki (especially SX4), gearbox housing/bearing wear causes free play, with gears “wandering” and a distinct whine or vibration.
